Hello faithful (or traitor?)
Celebrity Traitors UK has pretty much been my entire personality for the past few weeks and I found it fascinating how the "funny man" slipped under the radar the WHOLE ENTIRE TIME.
Even when he royally cocked up and couldn't even say he was a faithful out loud...(I thought for sure he was a goner)
He was like a cat with nine lives. And somehow everyone looked at him with rose tinted glasses.
Yes this is where I twist this into a career lesson.
Because blending in, subtly gaslighting and masking through humour, grit and deflection is exactly how self-sabotage works as well.
And it's all in the small moves.
→ White lies
→ Saying yes when you mean no
→ Not speaking up because you don't want to rock the boat
We love to blame the environment - toxic bosses, broken systems, impossible workloads.
But most of the time, the person quietly undermining your progress isn’t out there. It’s in here (you).
The “inner traitor” is subtle. It sounds like reason:
“Now’s not the right time,”
“I should be grateful,”
“What if I can’t find anything new because I'm not good enough?”
And then you get swayed by other's narratives, which stokes confusion and fear and makes you doubt your own judgement:
"If you want to be successful, you need to do X",
"It's too risky to change jobs right now"
"You're too old to change career, they won't take you seriously"
All these narratives compound to make you stay small in a hamster wheel of stuckness and operate from a place of fear instead of leading yourself to think and act bigger and bolder.
If you’ve been feeling drained or stuck, don’t look for who’s holding you back... look for how YOU are holding yourself back.
- The narratives you are telling yourself
- The lack of clarity you have about what you want
- Focusing your time and energy on what is out of your control - not what is in it.
The antidote isn’t guilt or more effort. It’s awareness.
Because the second you can see the pattern and start focusing on what you can control (fundamentally only how YOU think/act/decide), you can choose differently.
This is exactly what we dig into in my free workshop, The Four Power Moves to Get You Unstuck on Monday 24th November.
You’ll walk away knowing how to start taking control of your career; to you can start feeling energised, successful and ambitious again (aka the REAL version of you)
This is the last workshop I am running this year and there will be an open Q&A as well as a chance to win a free coaching strategy session from me.

3 → Micro Truths 🧠
- Playing small feels safe — until it starts feeling suffocating.
- Self-doubt isn’t a personality trait; it’s a habit you’ve rehearsed.
- The voice that says “you’re not ready” never goes away — you just learn to move anyway.
2 → Questions 🤔
- Where are you confusing being comfortable with being in control?
- What’s one decision you’d make if you trusted your instincts completely?
1 → Brave Move Forward 💪🏽
Take one small action you’ve been putting off even if it’s messy, even if it’s uncomfortable.
Your inner traitor will panic. That’s how you’ll know you’re moving in the right direction. And every small step (small power moves!) is a step towards the real you.
Have a great week ahead.
