Hi Reader
I’ve just come out the other side of a few tough business weeks.
I’ve been playing Chief of Everything:
Strategy. Sales. Marketing. Delivery. Admin. Emotional regulation.
Plus wife. parent. friend. human.
Somewhere between the browser tabs and the brain tabs, I lost a bit of my own spark.
Which is... ironic, considering helping others reignite theirs is literally my job. I felt unsure whether to share this with my email audience, but I think it's important to share as fear of struggle and failure is what keeps so many from making bold choices.
Here’s what no one tells you when you’re building something bold:
Even when it’s right, it can still feel really bloody hard.
Not because you’ve made the wrong decision.
But because you’re growing and learning, and it's bloody uncomfortable.
And it won't feel like a cinematic montage with background music and matcha (which btw I don't get the obsession over)
Sometimes, it feels like confusion. Resistance. Slowness.
Sometimes it looks like asking for help when your default is to hide.
Sometimes it's slowing down and reassessing.
I did that. I slowed down. I got support.
And, shock horror: things started to feel lighter. Easier. More me again.
Just because something is hard…
Doesn’t mean it’s wrong.
It might just mean you’re in the messy middle of becoming the next version of you. Whether it's your career, relationships, health.
Don't confuse the right decision with being the easy one.
So often it's the opposite, but that means the result will be that much sweeter because you persevered through.
(And you'll have a story to tell)
I have not once regretted my decision to leave corporate even though the past 18 months have been the toughest financially, mentally and emotionally.
Because I know why I made the decision and what I am working towards.
So know that you are not failing and you ARE cut out for this.
You might be in a building season laying foundations no one can see yet.
Or a burnout season where everything feels heavier than it should.
Or maybe a breakthrough season things are clicking, but it still feels shaky underneath.
Wherever you are, one thing’s true:
You don’t have to navigate it alone.
Asking for help isn’t a detour or a failure. It’s part of the strategy.
Which season are you in right now?
Hit reply and let me know. I’d genuinely love to hear.
Yasmin (vulnerability hangover) Da Rocha.
PS: Ran my updated workshop on "finding your edge to make bold moves" last week and this was some of the feedback.
I've been asked to run it again soon - so that is what I am doing (last time for a little while though so jump on it!)
