Hi legend,
If you read any of my LinkedIn content this week, you'll know that the week started with a bit of drama.
Sunday afternoon was spent in A&E because my daredevil daughter tried a scooter stunt on a bend and pushed her entire fingernail up into her finger. (It’s as gross as it sounds)
What I thought would be a simple bandage situation ended up resulting in a call to the Pediatric ward of a hospital that specialises in burns and hand trauma for a potential surgery on Monday.
Not being around for my kiddo was never going to be an option. So, at short notice on Sunday I had to message existing and potential clients, and my own coaches that I work with to explain the situation, apologise and reschedule our meetings. No one protested No one complained No one called me unprofessional Every one offered sympathy Every one absolutely understood Every one told me to put my family first It's not luck that I have clients like this, work with professionals like this and have flexibility like this. I have designed my career so that I work in an environment and with people who have high EQ and align with my values. People who understand that life is bigger than work. It's not about being self-employed vs employed. It's about intentionally being in an environment that enables you to show up and live your values when it really matters. Without guilt or compromise. Luckily, after all of that, the surgeon decided not to operate and to let nature do its thing. Sophia is now happily showing off her fat banaged finger to anyone who will pay attention. But it happened completely out of the blue and because of how I have designed my career... I got to put work to one side and focus on her 100%. Which is something she will remember.
It may take some hard decisions, temporary compromises and a shift in priorities.
Most people I know are looking for their next role to not only provide a decent salary and feel energising and fulfilling but also give them freedom.
Freedom of time & freedom of autonomy
And real freedom comes from owning your time and being able to prioritise what matters to you. It's worth the hard decisions and temporary compromises because you are making these on YOUR terms. You don’t have to stay stuck and frustrated
You don’t have to keep asking for permission to live the life you want.
You get to design your career around your priorities.
You get to have your high-impact role cake and eat it too.
this scene actually forever traumatised me
(ego prizes for whoever names the film- reply to this email and let me know)
My 1:1 prices are increasing significantly from the 1st April.
So consider this a little nudge if you want to take advantage of the lower investment (£2999) as I have 2 1:1 slots available.
Go smash the day and in case no one has told you this week.
